Report on 2021 MECHATROLINK Members Association General Meeting and Lectures (June 4, 2021)

Back to list

The 2021 MECHATROLINK Members Association General Meeting was held online to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The meeting opened with a speech by MMA chairman, Mr. Kenji Ueyama (General Manager, Motion Control Division, Yaskawa Electric Corp.). He offered his thoughts on recent developments and his take on future trends. He also expressed his hopes for the future, sending an encouraging message to MMA member companies.

Following the opening remarks, the MMA General Secretary delivered a report on activities in FY2020 and announced the FY2021 activity plan. Last fiscal year, the MMA was forced to change plans because of the pandemic. However, we continued our efforts to expand the use of MECHATROLINK by implementing activities at each MMA office.

In the new products segment of the meeting, four member companies introduced the latest products. They demonstrated and used motion video to introduce their new MECHATROLINK-compliant products.

In the second half of the meeting, invited speaker Mr. Sinya Amano (Production manager, Team Cross FA) delivered a speech on “Manufacturing DX realized by linking digital data with real operations”. He spoke enthusiastically about the challenges facing factories and production sites and the negative effects of the pandemic, as well as expectations of the factory automation industry in the future and his hopes of energizing the manufacturing industry even more.
This was the first time for the MMA to hold the general meeting online and there were some first-time participants. The general meeting concluded successfully.

We will actively engage in activities to further expand the use of MECHATROLINK despite the ongoing uncertainty stemming from the pandemic.
